Frequently asked questions

Can a standard strap be fitted to the Royal Oak 25977BA.OO.1205BA.02?

No. The bracelet is integrated into the case: there are no standard lugs to attach an off-the-shelf strap. This is a deliberate design decision, not a limitation. In the atelier, I build every attachment directly on the watch, made to measure.

How does the bespoke strap service work for this Royal Oak?

I work by appointment only, at Casati Milano, Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements from the actual case and build the attachment by hand, millimetre by millimetre. There is no template: every piece starts from scratch.

Which leather do I recommend for this yellow gold Royal Oak?

I recommend Mississippi Alligator. The natural scale texture works well with the octagonal geometry of the case, and the sporting-yet-elegant character of this Royal Oak deserves a leather that ages with personality. On yellow gold, I tend to favour warm tones — honey, cognac, tobacco — that accompany the metal rather than compete with it.

How long does a well-made strap last and how should it be cared for?

A properly constructed strap, made from quality leather with solid stitching, lasts between five and eight years of daily wear. Alligator and Tuscan leather age well: they develop a personal patina that tells the story of time worn. A few drops of neutral cream every few months and keeping it away from prolonged exposure to water is all it takes.

The Royal Oak was born in 1972: what still makes this architecture relevant today?

Gérald Genta drew the octagonal case with its eight hexagonal screws in a single night, on an urgent commission. He chose steel — a working material — for a luxury dress watch, at a time when no one was doing that. That tension between robustness and refinement has remained intact. When I work on a Royal Oak, I still feel that coherence in the way the case and bracelet merge into a single form.

The next step

The right strap isn't chosen. It is built, together.

From the atelier appointment to delivery, every step is made for those who know that things done well take time. Rare leathers, one piece at a time, eighteen months of warranty.
