Frequently asked questions

Can a strap be fitted to the Royal Oak 15550ST.OO.1356ST.07?

On this Royal Oak, the bracelet is integrated directly into the case: there are no standard lugs to attach a conventional strap. The attachment geometry is proprietary and requires a bespoke solution. I build it to measure in the atelier, working directly from the watch.

How does the bespoke strap process work for this model?

Everything goes through Casati Milano, by appointment only at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case, and hand-shape every end piece until it integrates cleanly with the original lines. I never work from photographs or declared measurements: the watch must be present.

Which leather do I recommend for the steel Royal Oak?

For a steel Royal Oak I prefer naturally aged Barenia. It starts understated and develops character with wear, much like this watch itself. It holds up well against the brushed steel without overpowering the proportions of the case.

How long does a well-made strap last?

With basic care — keeping it away from prolonged water exposure and conditioning the leather twice a year — a strap built from quality hides lasts between five and eight years of daily wear. Barenia and alligator age well: they change in appearance but do not deteriorate. A strap that wears badly was usually poorly made from the start.

Why are the Royal Oak's hexagonal screws relevant when making a bespoke strap?

The eight visible hexagonal screws are not merely a stylistic detail: they define the visual rhythm of the entire case and influence the proportions of everything around them. When I build a bespoke end piece for this model, I take that octagonal geometry into account. An end piece that is wrong in width or thickness breaks the balance that Gérald Genta calculated in 1972.

The next step

The right strap isn't chosen. It is built, together.

From the atelier appointment to delivery, every step is made for those who know that things done well take time. Rare leathers, one piece at a time, eighteen months of warranty.
