Strap for Royal Oak Selfwinding 41 White Gold - Diamond / Blue Sapphire / 50th Anniversary

Not in the conventional sense. The bracelet is integrated into the case with a proprietary attachment: a standard strap simply has nowhere to connect. In the atelier, I build each strap directly on the watch, to measure, starting from the actual geometry of the octagonal case.

I work exclusively by appointment at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements from the case itself, and build the attachment millimetre by millimetre. There is no template: every piece is made from scratch on that specific watch.

I choose glossy Mississippi alligator. The white gold and transparent sapphire case calls for a leather with strong visual character, not one that fades into the background. The gloss of the alligator plays off the sapphire's reflections without mimicking them. For a more restrained look, midnight blue Veau Swift works well: it keeps the Royal Oak's sporting tone without tipping into the showy.

With quality leather and reasonable use, I count on a good five years, often more. The key is to keep it away from water, let it breathe between wearings, and condition the leather twice a year. A well-kept alligator does not simply wear out: it ages, its character deepens, and it develops a patina that an industrial leather will never achieve.

The octagonal form with its eight hexagonal screws is not a stylistic flourish: it is the structural signature that Gérald Genta conceived in 1972 to bind case and bracelet into a single body. On this reference, the transparent sapphire case adds another layer: the movement is visible from the side, not only through the caseback. I have handled few watches where mechanical and aesthetic structure overlap so completely.
