Every attachment is hand-shaped to follow the octagonal geometry of the case, millimetre by millimetre.

I prefer Mississippi alligator with a wide scale. The Royal Oak has a specific character: sporting at heart, rigorous in form. Alligator holds that tension without tipping into decorative excess. The wide scale works well with the proportions of the octagonal case, without overwhelming them.

A strap built properly, with selected leather and hand-stitched seams, lasts easily five to eight years of regular wear. Quality leather does not deteriorate: it ages, developing a patina that tells the story of time worn. Care is straightforward: keep it away from prolonged water exposure and condition the leather once a year.
