Strap for Royal Oak 15500 Pink Gold / Black / Strap

The Royal Oak bracelet is integrated directly into the case: there is no standard lug to attach a regular strap. The attachment geometry is proprietary and requires dedicated work. In the atelier I build every strap to measure, working on the watch itself, not from a generic size.

I work exclusively through <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, by appointment only, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I take measurements directly from the pink gold case at the bench: it is the only way to ensure an attachment that integrates without forcing anything. I do not work from photographs or specification sheets — I need to handle the watch in person.

For a pink gold Royal Oak my choice goes to Mississippi Alligator with symmetrical scale: it has a visual structure that holds up to the architectural weight of this case without overwhelming it. Pink gold has a warmth that natural alligator complements well. Barenia is a softer alternative, for those who want a more intimate and less formal result.

A strap built with quality leathers and hand-stitched easily lasts five to eight years of regular wear, sometimes longer. It depends on how it is treated: leather does not like water and needs to breathe. Alligator ages by compacting the scale, while Barenia develops a patina that over the years becomes part of the character of the piece.

Gérald Genta drew it in 1972 in a single night, and the challenge was to bring together gold and sporty steel without it feeling like a compromise. The exposed hexagonal screws on the octagonal bezel were a provocative gesture for the time: the watch displayed its assembly mechanics as an aesthetic element. I have seen many references pass through the bench over the years, and that tension between constructive rigour and everyday wearability has remained intact.
