Strap for Royal Oak Extra-Thin Yellow Gold / Yellow Gold

Not in the conventional sense. The bracelet is integrated into the case with a proprietary attachment: a standard strap simply cannot be fitted. What I do at the atelier is build the strap directly around the watch, working every detail of the attachment by hand, millimetre by millimetre.

I work by appointment only, at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, in Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. Bring the watch with you: I take measurements directly from the case, study the geometry, and choose the leather together with you. There are no templates for this model — every piece is built from scratch.

I choose Barenia. It's a leather that ages with character, developing a warm patina that naturally complements the yellow gold without overpowering it. The Royal Oak has a sporting soul but a formal presence: Barenia holds both tensions without yielding to either.

With honest care — keeping it away from water, letting it breathe, wiping it occasionally with a dry cloth — a Barenia or Alligator strap easily lasts me between five and eight years of daily wear. Quality leather doesn't deteriorate: it transforms. Often after three years it looks better than when it left the bench.

The extremely reduced thickness changes everything: the case slides under a shirt cuff without fighting the fabric. I've had several Royal Oaks on my bench over the years, and every time that flat geometry strikes me. It's a precise technical decision by Gérald Genta, not an aesthetic whim — and you feel it on the wrist from the very first day.
