Frequently asked questions

Can a strap be fitted to the Royal Oak 15201TS.OO.0944TS.01?

Not in the traditional sense. The bracelet is integrated into the case and the attachment is proprietary: a standard strap simply has no way to connect. The only viable route is a bespoke one, building the attachment by hand directly on the watch at the atelier.

How does the bespoke strap process work for this Royal Oak?

I work exclusively by appointment at Casati Milano, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench, take measurements directly from the case, and build the attachment by hand, adapting it to the specific geometry of the tantalum and steel. There is no template: every piece is made from scratch on that individual watch.

Which leather do I recommend for this model?

For a tantalum Royal Oak I prefer taurillon calfskin with a matte or lightly brushed finish. Tantalum has a dark, visually dense character: a leather that is too shiny or too soft does not hold its own against it. Taurillon keeps its shape, ages with character, and works well with the sporting architecture of this watch.

How long does a well-made strap last?

A quality leather strap, properly cared for, easily lasts five or six years of regular wear. The key is to keep it away from water and let it breathe. Over time the leather softens, takes the shape of the wrist, becomes more personal — it does not deteriorate, it evolves.

What makes tantalum so particular on this Royal Oak?

Tantalum is a rare, dense and difficult metal to work with: it has a dark, velvety chromatic quality that steel simply cannot replicate. Audemars Piguet chose it precisely to give the Royal Oak Jumbo a different presence, less conventional. At the bench I have learnt that it also affects the weight of the watch on the wrist: you feel it, in a pleasing way.
