In my experience as a craftsman, canvas is a sturdy cotton or linen fabric with a tight weave that I use to create straps with a sporty and vintage appearance. I favor canvas for its resistance to wear and its ability to develop character over time, acquiring a unique patina. It's the ideal material for military or sports watches, offering exceptional comfort and breathability.
