Lug width isn't just a styling choice—it shapes how the strap speaks to the case. A 22mm lug takes on larger cases, often dive watches or sports models with substantial diameter. When a strap is too narrow for its case, the proportions feel off; too thick and it digs into the wrist. We work each leather by adjusting thickness so it follows the case curve without overwhelming it.

How a strap ages depends entirely on the leather. Full-grain leather expands slightly over the first months of wear, conforming to your wrist; the surface absorbs natural skin oils and darkens unevenly—what leather workers call patina. Technical rubber doesn't do this: it stays put, won't stretch, won't absorb anything, which is why we choose it for people who want a strap that asks nothing of them, whether for diving or sport.

Alligator and cordovan behave in opposite ways. Alligator scales hold their structure and stay nearly unchanged over years if the leather is tanned properly; cordovan is more elastic, it flexes over time without creasing deeply, and tends to last longer on a strap worn every day.
