The Rolex Datejust 31 278245-0038 features a lug width of 16 millimetres. This measurement is specific to small-diameter Datejust models (31 mm) designed for the feminine wrist. Measurement should be taken between the internal shoulders of the lugs, perpendicular to the case.

For this reference in Everose gold with silvered lacquered dial, we recommend American alligator with regular belly, or vegetable-tanned calf in cognac, burgundy, or charcoal grey tones. Alligator offers visual contrast and robustness; vegetable-tanned calf develops a natural patina that harmonises with rose gold over time.

The operation requires two specialised tools: a correctly dimensioned spring bar tool and precision in handling the internal springs. Remove the strap by gently pushing the spring inward from the outside of the lug, sliding the bar to the leverage point. Repeat on the opposite side. The reverse procedure enables installation of the new strap.

Any strap with a 16 millimetre lug width is compatible. We recommend artisanal productions with coherent leather thickness (1.3–1.5 mm in the slot) and internal adjustment strap for comfortable fit. Low-quality synthetic fibres accelerate wear and alter the aesthetic profile of the timepiece.
