Which leather would you recommend for the Alpine Eagle?
Mississippi alligator. This watch has a sporty yet refined character, and alligator offers the structure and sheen that make no compromises. The grain tone complements the Lucent Steel, and it ages beautifully over time.
How long does a well-made strap last?
With regular wear and conscious care, between 8 and 12 years. Quality leather doesn't die—it simply patinas. If you keep it away from extreme humidity and pass it on in good condition, it can last much longer. I've seen beautiful straps even after twenty years on the wrist.
Why does the Alpine Eagle require a bespoke strap rather than an off-the-shelf solution?
Because Chopard built this watch as a monolith: case and bracelet converse through fluid, precise geometry. A improvised strap would break that continuity. It deserves the technical respect that only bespoke work can provide.
