Frequently asked questions

Can a standard strap be fitted to the Breitling Super Chronomat RB0136E31Q1R1?

No. The Rouleaux bracelet is integrated directly into the case: there are no standard lugs to attach a conventional strap. The attachment is proprietary, designed around the specific geometry between ceramic and red gold. If you want to switch to a strap, the only option is to have one built to measure, on the physical watch, in the atelier.

How does the bespoke strap service work for this model?

I work by appointment only, at Casati Milano, Via XX Settembre 15, Milan. You bring the watch: I take measurements directly from the case, studying the curve of the attachments and the transition between ceramic and red gold. No measurement is taken from memory or a data sheet — every strap is born from that specific watch.

Which leather do I recommend for the Super Chronomat?

For a watch with this dual personality — technical in its materials, sumptuous in the ceramic and red gold combination — I recommend Barenia. It ages with character, developing a warm patina that works well alongside the gold without overpowering it. I have seen natural Tuscan leather work just as well for those after a bolder, more robust look, but my clear preference remains Barenia.

How long does a well-made strap last?

With quality leather and solid construction, I easily count five to seven years of regular use, sometimes more. Leather does not deteriorate: it changes. Barenia, for instance, softens over time and takes on the warmth of the wrist — that is part of its value. Care is straightforward: keep it away from prolonged exposure to water and condition it occasionally with a natural cream.

What sets the Super Chronomat apart from other Breitling chronographs?

The combination of ceramic and red gold is not just aesthetic: these are two materials with very different physical behaviours, and engineering them together in an integrated case demands exceptional constructive precision. I have seen many chronographs at the bench over the years — few carry this tension between technical hardness and the warmth of precious metal. It is a watch that does not try to please everyone, and I respect that.
