Strap for Chronomat 41

No. The bracelet is integrated into the case with a proprietary rouleaux system: a standard strap simply will not attach. To change the strap, it has to be built bespoke, working directly on the watch. That is what I do in the atelier.

I work by appointment only at <a href="/pages/casati-booking">Casati Milano</a>, at Via XX Settembre 15 in Milan. I bring the watch to the bench and take measurements directly from the case, without relying on technical data sheets. Every lug interface is shaped by hand to integrate with the two-tone steel and rose gold case.

I go for Mississippi Alligator in tobacco brown. The Chronomat has a technical, sporting character, but the steel and rose gold case calls for something warm and structured. Tobacco works with the rose gold without softening the watch's personality too much. It simply works.

With basic care, five years is an achievable target. I keep it away from prolonged water exposure and direct heat, and occasionally treat the leather with a natural cream. Alligator and Barenia age well: they develop a personal patina that tells the story of the person who has worn them.

They are the four fixed markers on the bidirectional bezel, designed to let pilots read flight times at a glance, even while wearing gloves. Breitling introduced them in the 1980s, when the Chronomat became the official watch of the Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team. They are part of the model's technical identity, not a decorative detail.
