Handmade Military Leather Watch Straps

Straps inspired by military service watches. Thick leather, reinforced stitching, buckles with security keeper. For those who wear a Field Watch or seek a strap that remains solid under stress.

Military-Style Leather: Thickness, Durability, Character

The military strap is born to endure the harshest conditions. Thickness between 3 and 4 millimetres minimum, double saddle stitch, bronzed or burnished steel buckle. It is not a decorative style: it is a technical manual distilled into the form of an accessory.

I work mainly with Italian vegetable-tanned leather, 3.5mm thick, with or without a reinforced core. The difference lies in the edge: some military straps have a raw cut edge (more literal, more aggressive), others a finished burnished edge (more refined, less "uniform"). We decide together based on the piece it will be paired with — a Khaki Field Auto handles the raw edge well, a Mark XVIII pilot prefers the finished edge.

The colours remain essential: tobacco, honey, matte black, olive green, brown chocolate. No polishing, no glossy finishes. For those who want the strictest historical reference, I also build the two-piece pass-through model with retaining keeper — authentic, no compromises.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a leather NATO strap?

A single piece that runs under the case—your watch stays on your wrist even if a spring bar fails. Ours is leather, not nylon—warmer to the touch and develops a patina over time.

Can leather handle NATO strap duty?

Yes. We use tannages built to last; a leather NATO just asks for a bit of respect around water. In return, it ages well and won't fray.

What lug widths do you make?

20 to 22mm on the military models. Can't find your size, send us your watch model and we'll confirm the exact lug width.

Does it mount without tools?

Almost. The NATO threads through between the spring bars and case—takes two minutes, no disassembly needed.

Leather or recycled nylon for a NATO?

Leather if you want character and warmth; recycled nylon if you need lightness and water indifference. We make both—pick based on the day.
