Zermatt Lining
Definition
The Zermatt lining is the version of the Zermatt designed specifically to be used as the inner lining of the strap — not as the outer leather, but as the layer that touches the wrist. It is a Zermatt with reduced thickness and an inner surface finish optimised for contact with the skin. The choice of lining is one of those decisions customers tend to underestimate, but it makes a real difference to everyday comfort. A Zermatt lining has a slightly grainy texture that, unlike smooth calfskin, does not slide on the wrist — it keeps the strap in position without tightening. It is a small but continuous difference, and once you experience it, you don't easily go back to a smooth lining. The Zermatt lining pairs naturally with the outer Zermatt strap in the same shade — building an all-Zermatt strap with consistency of material and colour. But I also use it as a lining for straps in smooth calfskin or exotic leather, where the grainy inner texture adds comfort without changing the outer appearance.
