Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V)
Definition
Grade 5 titanium, Ti-6Al-4V, is titanium alloyed with 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium. It is harder and more polishable than pure titanium (grade 2) and weighs little more than half of steel. It contains no nickel and does not cause allergies. In watchmaking it is the titanium of high-end sports cases and many buckles; it scratches, but less than grade 2, and the brushed finish hides the marks.
