Taper

Definition
Taper is the progressive reduction in width of the watch strap from the lug (case side) to the clasp. I express it with two numbers, for example 20/16mm: 20mm at the lug, 16mm at the clasp. An accentuated taper (20/14) visually slenderizes the wrist and pairs beautifully with a deployant clasp. A subtle taper (20/18) or no taper (20/20) is more sporty. The choice depends on your closure type and the style you're seeking.
