Karung Snake is an exotic leather sourced from the skin of the Karung snake, an Indonesian species protected by CITES Appendix II. In our atelier, I work with it exclusively from certified suppliers. The natural scale structure creates a unique and inimitable pattern: each watch strap is a biological signature. Unlike python, Karung offers more regular and refined scales, guaranteeing superior flexibility on the strap. The leather is incredibly lightweight yet extraordinarily resilient, with a natural patina that evolves over time. I craft Karung on sport watches and dress watches from 18 to 22mm—on a Rolex Submariner 40mm the contrast is magnetic, on a vintage Omega Seamaster it lends visionary presence. The tanning is vegetable-tanned and certified; maintenance requires awareness: no aggressive water, only gentle brushing and specific conditioning every 6-8 months. Karung Snake represents the perfect compromise between exotic and practical.

Can I wear a Karung Snake watch strap in the shower or in water?
No. Although Karung is resilient, fresh water—especially chlorinated shower water—compromises vegetable-tanned leather. Prolonged moisture encourages mold and discoloration. I recommend removing the watch strap before any extended water contact. If accidentally wet, dry immediately with a soft cloth and let it breathe in the air for 24 hours. It's the price of the exotic: awareness.
Which watch does Karung Snake strap enhance the most?
Karung shines on watches with brushed steel or gold cases—the contrast between the natural scales and the metal is almost hypnotic.
