The case back is the rear part of the watch case that covers and protects the movement. It can be made of steel, gold, platinum or other precious materials, and represents a crucial element for both the water resistance and the aesthetics of the case. It often bears engravings, serial numbers and manufacturer's marks, making it an identifying element of the watch.

What is the difference between a solid caseback and a transparent one?
The solid caseback completely protects the movement and is more traditional, while the transparent one (display caseback) allows you to admire the movement. Both guarantee water resistance if correctly made.
How do I clean a case back without damaging it?
Use a soft microfibre cloth lightly dampened with lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Avoid harsh solvents and rub gently, following the engravings.
Why does the case back carry engravings and numbers?
The engravings identify the model, the serial number, the warranty and the brand. They represent the authenticity and history of the piece, essential for certification and collectable value.
